Dyeing with indigo powder
Posted on: 12/27/2008 03:11 PM
Hi

Can the indigo powder that is used to dye hair be used to dye clothing as well? I am in Europe and it will be hard for me to get the pure cake described in many of the posts on here, as I wuold have to order it which would be expensive. I have seen a lot of indigo dye for fabric on sale in stores but am tad wary of it.

Thanks,

Rea

Ancient Blue does a wonderful job of dyeing fabric!
I've used it on wool and silk.

The green powdered indigo used for hair will dye cloth, but not very evenly. I've used it on silk and loved the results with batik.

Hi catherine i wanted to know if it was ok to dye my hair black with zarqa black henna which claims to have ground indigo leaves only. I mixed it in water and it doeesn't seem to have any additional harmful black dyes, but is just green indigo powder, that is claimed to be safe to use on hair?
