shades of colours (not a coloured henna question)

Hej,

Some time ago, I picked up 100 gms of henna from Al Muhajabat (I've
lost about a third of it to sifting) and it gives me a tannish colour
rather than the deep chocolate/brown stains I get from Castle Art
henna, which is what I mainly use. One of these days, I think I'm
going to try a design using both brands - trying to get the colour
differences to compliment each other, I guess. I was wondering if
anyone else has ever tried something like this. I know there has
been some mention both here and in books of removing some henna
before the rest of the design to creat this type of effect - any
comments?
