Brief experience from the other side: small festival with a little bit
of henna (advertised). My kin & kith have, so far, never wanted to be
on the designer side of the henna, so I really looked forward to
seeing others actually *doing* henna, and learning a lot. Brought my
henna kit, in case they got swamped and wanted help, though I wasn't
going to take it out until after I saw what they were doing. A
different part of the festival dominated, so the henna and many of the
planned bits took distant second place. However, a few people saw the
henna sitting out and asked about it, and some decorations were
eventually done. I ended up bringing out my books and some
information and images printed from the web - that seemed to be a
revelation. They were pleasantly surprised that someone from outside
the culture was interested, had tried it, and wanted to learn and talk
about it. And they hadn't seen NuSkin before, so that was fun. As
far as I could tell, the only nuisance factor was the tendency to keep
talking when the festival was folding up.
