Wax will soak into the paper too much to be very useful. Go directly
to skin. It doesn't crack on the skin much, because it stays a little
warm under the gauze and all. I think the masques may be too water
soluble to use. If I were whimpy about the heat, I'd try wheat paste,
which is occasionally used as a henna resist.
