I think that your idea with the peel off face mask might work, since
it peels off and doesn't reconstitute easily. It does paint on
easily. I think I would try 2 coats with thorough drying between,
then applying the henna.

You might also look into liquid latex. I haven't used it myself, but
others seem to like it. Make sure there is no latex sensitivity
though :-)
