Just found the following information at an Australian website about henna and pregnancy, children, rites of passage: "Ela saw henna used for a ceremonial 'rite of passage' when a girl entered puberty, for example. "The Egyptians and Turks believe henna removes the 'evil eye', while in Morocco, pregnant women have their ankles decorated at seven months for a 'safe pregnancy'. They even plaster the baby's navel when it is born, as henna contains cleansing and soothing qualities. In the desert, henna is applied to the foreheads of children with fever, as it cools the body." This is the website if anyone is interested: http://www.globaloasis.iinet.net.au/henna.html
