...ya know what? sometimes i have that same problem. and, as i am the type of person who likes to do things "my way" :) i have found that for the /really/ fine-line stuff, a needle called a "doll needle" dipped in henna and then "painted" on with that works great! the doll needle is huge and not sharp, so no problems with stabbing or breaking the skin (darning needles work good, as do hat pins and other rather large needles and such - experiment! just remember to dull the point if it's sharp! :) also, the "eye" part is great for corrections of lines when the paste slips and/or spreads a bit. ...i stumbled upon this idea from trial and error. plus, i had read somewhere that the african mehndi practitoners use a stick, as do some indian artists. i say: whatever works for you - go for it! but don't be afraid to experiment! good luck! :) ...i do agree with sifting, tho, no matter the method of applications. thoze durn clumps just plain suck. :) ...sashi. 8) : Henna is a desert plant, that when harvested and processed, still has *snip-for-bandwidth* :) : we're happy to answer any questions.....
