Yes, I know the source light as well as the color sample matters, let alone individual eyes. (I heard there are actually two variations of the "red" color cone in the eye, and they have slightly different sensitivities.) Also that reproducing colors with accuracy is notoriously difficult, and so it's usually expensive. Doing a reflection spectrum would be more accurate, but it's hard to measure by eye (a simple spectroscope is not too difficult), and electronic or mechanical measurements are generally expensive. Sigh. Still, doing a spectral analysis on a *few* henna stains for comparison purposes might be interesting. I might manage that...in the summer, when the equipment is less likely to be in use. Am I getting dangerously obsessed? (Nah, not *quite* dangerous yet, I think.)
