Looks like you've got the basics; have fun! (Everything below is fiddlin' details.) : upon drying-apply lemon sugar mixture & wrap with cotton If you're willing to spend several dollars and ventilate the room a bit (try the bathroom with the fan on - doesn't take long to dry), you might want to try a paint or spray liquid bandage instead of the lemon sugar. (I find liquid bandage for under $5 in the first-aid aisle of a drugstore or large grocery store.) If you've already got the lemon sugar, just use it sparingly for the first coat or two, or do a few practice lines on a piece of paper or fabric or something, and practice the lemon sugar on that. I messed up the second & third times by rushing the lemon sugar. (Not disasters, just a little smearing around the edges.) : * heating pad next? how long? The idea is to keep the hands or feet (or whatever you're doing) warm, preferably for a few hours or overnight. If you're going to be sitting around talking, try a heating pad for half an hour or so. I usually do a design shortly before bedtime, wrap it well (keeps it warm), and sleep on it. : gently scrape, don't wash for several hours I haven't actually seen much difference in a brief, gentle washing to remove the paste vs. scraping to remove the paste. Others will probably disagree, but know that gentle washing won't kill the design, at worst it'll make it lighter & not as long-lasting. : I really want this to work, its part of a presentation/project. As long as you're using good henna, it'll work. Most of the things discussed here are to make the design super-dark or to eke out an extra week. Just don't worry if you can't do the design you thought you were going to do - nobody will know that changes weren't intentional - and don't panic when you take the paste off and the design is pale orange. It'll darken in half a day, and may continue to darken even after that. Trust. Have a blast! And also, if you're presenting the project, consider bringing the leftover paste to school. You may find others wanting to try it.
