Mordant: does green tea work?

Many sites out there (including mehandi.com, which offers the single
most straightforward and practical recipe I have yet found) say to
use tea or coffee as your mordant, for the acid. Specifically black
tea. I am a big fan of *green* tea, and have lots of it around the
house... has anyone tried using green or oolong tea in the mordant,
or one of the stash teas (like Earl Grey or Darjiling..), instead of
regular black? How well does it work?
