Maybe because the paste had other coloring agents added to it to beef
up the initial stain.
I tried a recipe with some berry flavored Kool-Aid powder in it once
(don't ask me why) and the first three days were fabulous, but went
away quickly after that.
On the other hand, Kool Aid powder is great if you have old henna
powder and you only want your design to stick around for a few days.
Like if you need to build a photographic portfolio in a hurry.
