The old packets of henna powder will stain, but they may not stain
much. They are however WONDERFUL for your hair (as long as you're not
putting it on bleached or permed hair).
It makes some difference in the hot, cold, warm liquid thing. Very
hot liquids can make your paste grainy. Very cold liquids are very
slightly slower to start up the dye release. Warm will start the dye
release a little quicker. If I have a "hurry up" client coming over,
I use warm liquids and leave the paste covered by the heater (90F)
and that makes it ready to use in 8 hours .... the dye comes up
quicker. If it's no rush, I just do cold liquids and leave the paste
in a cool part of the house (65F). That will stay good for 36 hours.
