boiling limes

I've tried this twice now, and no luck, although it still worked better than fresh lime juice. When I boil dried limes - how long will it take
and how much water and how many limes should I use? Ive boiled all the water out twice, and still no red. Maybe a little copper, but no red.
my henna tends to stay on my hands about 10 days
