I got together with a couple of friends this weekend and did some Mehndi. I did a matching pair of our favorite band's logo on the inside of her elbows and a tribal design from a transfer on his upper arm. They turned out pretty well except for being lighter due to the thinner skin there. I also did a design on my palm which came out with really good color. Unfortunately, by the time I got around to myself, I was tired and not as patient. I didnt give mine a good enough chance to set before wrapping. It turned out blurry as well. But for a practice run, I think it was succesful, I learned a few things at least. I was using Kenzi's Lemon/Clove mixture, and the Al Aroosa henna I found in the Indian Market. I think it turned out pretty well. Sifting did indeed make a difference, the paste came out SO SMOOTH! I am using the coffee filter I found at the grocery store, which had a superfine mesh around a plastic frame and it worked great. I still havent found a very efficient method for sifting through it but still working on it. If anyone would like to see the results from my palm feel free to email me. The design turned out pretty cool for a freehand, especially winging it like I was.
