what is Kathha / Kattha power?

I was asking about how to get a dark long lasting stain at little
india in Toronto Canada. The merchants said to use Chai Tea, Kattha
poweder, cloves (someone else said clove oil is better).
I bought some of the Kattha, the clerk said the dry block is
better than powder. I ground some up and put it in with my mix.
Anyone know what the heck it is?

Interestingly enough, the powder being sold for mehndi all over
little india isn't bright spring green. It's more of a dry grass
color.

Anyone have any ideas?
