There was no strong odor from the henna that I can recall. It just
looked like black paste. And the artist was using the same henna on
everybody, because there were about 2/3 people in front of us. So I
had to watch her apply henna designs to other people before it was my
turn. I left it on for about 5 hours because she said the longer you
leave it on, the darker it would look and that it might stay a few
days longer. Actually, my friend and I both left it on for about 5
hours. Mine looks like a band which wraps around the upper part of my
left arm. My friend had hers on the lower center part of her back.
The artist did ask me if I was allergic to anything because she said
that the henna had a dye in it. I told her no and then told her I had
not had any problems with my real tattoo. She then showed me hers,
because she did a few of them around her ankle just for show. She did
not tell me of any problems ( I guess she was more interested in the
money), or make me aware of any side effects.
