newbie question

hello i am new to the world of henna and have been researching for recipes. i see many sites that have things premixed and others that just have the basic recipe... the question i have is the oil used. i see two types.. eucalyptus and either clove or lemon mixed together... these are not essential oils are they? if not then what type of oil are we talking about? i'd like to know that when i put my recipe together i know the ingredients and why.
