Henna for hair and a few questionsPosted by TashaM. on April 26, 2000 at 04:50:26: I have been dyeing my hair with permanent color (brand is Feria) into a vibrant auburn for a few years now. My natural color is a medium brown, just a shade darker than my now red color. I once tried henna about three years ago (the brand was Light Mountain), and I absolutely loved it. I believe at the time that I was using a semi-permanent red color and had waited about two months to use the henna. The henna took well. I had mixed it and left it on for about four hours, and when I rinsed it out it was a beautiful dark red. Now I want to go back to using henna again. I want to stop using my permanent hair color completely and just use henna. The permanent color I am using now is just a few shades lighter than the henna dye I would like to use, going by the results I got three years ago. My fear is that if I only use henna, that new growth dyed just with henna will be different from the rest of my hair, which could reveal a line between the two. My hair is a natural medium brown, just a shade darker and less red than what I dye it to. I very much regret not just using henna in the first place. I have extreemely long hair and cannot just wait for the dyed part to grow out. I would consider dyeing my hair back to it's natural color if any of you thought this would help prevent the telltale line I mentioned, but want to see if any of you have any other advice. I plan to do a henna test on some strands to see if there is a difference between my dyed hair and new growth. Do you think if I dyed my hair back to it's natural color and waited at least two months first that henna would sufficiently dye my new growth the same as my old dyed growth? Or do you have any other advice or suggestions? Do you think I should not dye my hair with henna at all??:( Thanks in advance, I have asked all over and really need some advice!
