: : I've read somewhere in the message board that henna hair products cannot be used on the skin because they cause rashing, blisters and other nasty stuff. My curiosity is if it can't be used on the skin, but can be used in your hair, how does your scalp fair with that exposure?? ----It sounds like the henna hair products you are talking about also have hair dye in them (usually PPD, for black color). This is known to cause skin rashes and burns when used with henna (for some or many people). In long-term use of PPD-containing products, there can be liver damage and also cancer. Check out the FDA site for more specific information. The reason these "henna" products do not cause rashes when used on the hair and scalp is that they don't stay on as long as when used with henna. : I'm trying in the middle of trying to work out how to dye my own skin for the hell of it, but I'm not having much luck in getting hold of any specific skin products down here. A couple of people said to just get the powder shit for your hair, and mix it up and that'll do it. Of which I have located, but am now a bit worried about applying it after reading the bullitin in regard of the consequences of using the hair stuff on your skin . . . -----There are lots of online resources for henna products (one link below) and also a ton of ho-to information. In this site alone, you should be able to find everything you need. Check out the FAQ and then the "How" and "What" sections. And of course, most of us here would be happy to answer questions and share information. Good luck.
