The short answer to the problem is that there are many variables in exposure to ppds ... there are differences in exposure time, temperature, sweat, sunshine, variety of ppd, some people have thicker skin layers than others, and skin thickness and porosity varies on different parts of the body. And, ppd may cause a reaction in one person the first time they're exposed, or the 5th time another person is exposed. PPDs are in many products, but they should NEVER be put straight on the skin for an extended period of time, because ppd is a transdermal toxin. It may be safely used to color plastic or a car tire, but NOT YOUR SKIN. The worst danger is to the person who is applying the "black henna" because they are inhaling some ppd straight into their lungs any time they mix it up.
