This is not my opinion, this is the opinion of the woman who has been teaching me the art of Mehndi, I am just passing this along...Like Catherine did. I call my teacher Granmama..(she prefers it) she has asked me why do we call ourselves "professionals", when we are not....we did not learn this ancient art from our ancestors, it was not handed down to us through our families, why do we insist that we know more than they do about this art. I have told her that a "professional" is someone practicing a profession, someone who does something for a living, rather than a hobby. (Yes I looked it up in the dictionary, to tell her),,,this has not satisfied her question as to why do we think we know more about this than them.. Granmama says it does not matter how many years of learning, reading about, research on the subject, or even how many years we have been doing this, we are not "professionals". Can anyone help me here? Explain to Granmama why we feel we are professionals. She has read this page a number of times, when she is here, and she is so dissappointed in what us "professionals" say and do here...I have to agree with her, we have put each other down, called each other names, and slandered some, someone makes a response to someones question or comment and someone(self encluded), has a 'better' way...and then there is the 'best' way. I want to apologize for my behaviour and attitude, and postings that may have offended anyone...I deeply apologize.
