Anything that messes with that will NOT make it redder. Might make it browner ... blacker ... various effects of twiddling with the H off the side. It won't make it last longer. The exfoliation of skin is a variable unto itself. What can I say ..... there are so many peope who INSIST that they have some secret, but when you test it out carefully, it falls back into basic chemistry. It's a small, simple molecule and there's only so much you can do to it. You can shift it with heat, ph+ or -, solvents, and that's about where it stops.
