I've found some lovely bits of poetry, from ancient Greece and Persia both, that mention the moon as having "rose-colored fingers" (hennaed imho) and houris compared to a rose-colored moon. My hunch? The harvest/fertility festivals that women hennaed for were during the full moons in the late summer/autumn that have those beautiful henna colors! So perhaps the "henna moon" was a time of abundance, harvest and sexuality....... Good one!
