A question of wedding/henna proprietyPosted by Kenzi on August 9, 2001 at 03:27:45: I am going to a friend's wedding this weekend and want to hennamyself as part of my usual ritual of adornment that includes my clothes, shoes, makeup, hair, jewelry etc. I got to thinking/wondering if this is appropriate? My friend is not of a hennaing culture and neither is her fiance and probably no one in the wedding party or any of the guests. So is there something inappropriate about hennaing onesself for such an event? The wedding is not in New York City, where almost anything goes! What about, just hypotheticaly, if the friend were, say, Indian? And I wasn't part of her henna party, could I still show up with my own henna? Any ideas? I am thinking of doing simple finger rings (a la Loretta Roome) which I think are so elegant. My point is, I am not doing anything that would be too freaky for people to handle.
