i would and i am also wearing henna to a traditional wedding this saturday.Posted by jennifer on August 9, 2001 at 09:32:26: In reply to: A question of wedding/henna propriety posted by Kenzi on August 9, 2001 at 03:27:45: i think doing something elegant and traditional would be best and iam going with my hands and feet hennaed because that is a part of "me". in fact, it is a family wedding, one of my husband's cousins, one of "the kennedy's", is having a full traditional catholic wedding in one of the biggest catholic churches in southern california. an apsolutely beautiful cathedral, i am so looking forward to this fairytale type wedding with full cathederal train, it is going to be fun and i am going to be my ol' funky self. i think they expect it now. in fact, i had been ask by at least 3 people, to bring a "bottle" of my finest, tee hee. secret henna decoration in the bathroom during the reception, they will certainly question his brother in the girls salon, ha ha. let ya know how it goes. and you have fun too. jennifer : I am going to a friend's wedding this weekend and want to henna : myself as part of my usual ritual of adornment that includes my : clothes, shoes, makeup, hair, jewelry etc. : : I got to thinking/wondering if this is appropriate? My friend is not : of a hennaing culture and neither is her fiance and probably no one : in the wedding party or any of the guests. So is there something : inappropriate about hennaing onesself for such an event? The wedding : is not in New York City, where almost anything goes! : : What about, just hypotheticaly, if the friend were, say, Indian? And : I wasn't part of her henna party, could I still show up with my own : henna? Any ideas? : : I am thinking of doing simple finger rings (a la Loretta Roome) which : I think are so elegant. My point is, I am not doing anything that : would be too freaky for people to handle.
