henna on leather

Hi all,
Been away for a few months, but popping in when I've had a chance.
I've been thinking about doing mehndi on some goat skin drum heads
that I've had laying around for a while. I obviously won't want to
leave the henna on the heads as seems to be the technique with lamps,
but wasn't sure how to go about removing it without staining the rest
of the drum head, etc.

Anyone had any experience with this?
