I don't know a whole lot about this ritual in particular, butPosted by Lauren on September 19, 2001 at 14:14:47: In reply to: Question regarding Rangoli for ya CCJ... posted by Sarah B on September 19, 2001 at 07:16:48: In general, it's the intent in a ritual that matters, and not theactual details for the most part. I think it would be kind of nice to have it in the space where you actually live, done in a medium that will send up a scent reminder of your intent every time you walk on it. Make sure the powder will be safe to be breathing for a while, though, as some commercial preparations are meant to be used only for a short time or theyt may cause eye or breathing problems. On the other hand, don't sell your teachers short without giving them a chance to consider your idea. They are there to educate you about your world, and if you can give them documentation on the history of the ritual, they might find it interesting enough to let you do it publicly, especially as it's not religious but spiritual in nature. Lauren : I posted this attached to my compliments on the Rangoli you posted : pics of (which was amazingly beautiful if I may add) but was : curious... : : I'd really like to try to make one sometime. But, I'm not sure how : well it'd go over here on campus. We're a Catholic school, not sure : how well the lil old nuns will go for the different culture related : ritual... I was thinking though... could one also make one in their : bedroom using that carpet freshner powder, or baking soda... just for : a momentary thing... leave it on the floor till its smeared or even : till its trampled into the carpet... or would that be defiling the : tradidion too much? I'd love to try it, but don't have the space to : do it in an outside setting here. Any suggestions or advice would be : immensely appreciated. : Blessings, : Sarah B
