It's okay.Posted by txilar on September 21, 2001 at 03:40:34: In reply to: Sarcasm comes when an someone has nothing left to say posted by Robert on September 20, 2001 at 21:11:16: It's not so cut and dry as you think. All things are neither good orbad completely, only, as Willie Shakespeare put it, thinking makes them so. If one wishes to be antagonistic toward prayer, one gladly has the right, however, to mock other's spiritual nature is plain crude. Perhaps it is difficult to read between the lines when people express an opinion that is different from one's own; so different that one assumes the opinion holder to be contrary to everything one believes. Like henna, opinions have different shades, styles and depths. Some of us like cones, some prefer the metal tipped bottles. None of assumes the other will express dismay over our preferences, we simply enjoy what makes us do our best. We have a right to opinions, everyone, even the Afghani people. Now, if in the course of reading this, you assume I think we should hold hands, pray and forgive bin Ladin, you are simply being contrary. That's okay. Socrates faced the same kind of crowd, his 'second group.' They mocked the first group, so engrossed with his thoughts. That second group though could never see that he was indeed mocking their very selves. I never stated that the U.S ruined Afghanistan, nor did I state that the U.S had a war with Afghanistan. I only implied that we lended a hand in creating a monster. Perhaps our aid was a way of slightly mollifying that guilt. There is nothing in that truth that warrants any of your silly commentary regarding prayer and posteriors. Think for a moment though what war would mean. The death of innocent people. You seem to mock this idea- but so did bin Ladin, when it was our innocent people. Think of the throngs that would join his army if we did war with them. "Come out my enemy, won't you come war with me..." How many more innocent people would that kill? If you want war, I sincerely believe you will have war. As the story goes, you understand everything when there is nothing left to understand. Wait just a bit. : I didn’t realise that USA had an ongoing war with Afghanistan and was : giving aid out of guilt. I thought Afghanistan had a war with the : USSR. Your right, it was the USA that ruined Afghanistan, not the : Taliban or Pakistan or Saudi Arabia or USSR or Iran. Thanks for : setting me straight. Maybe if we forgive bin Laden and we all pray he : will stop the genocide of Western culture. If you think that is a : reasonable response then we should do it. Thanks for the insight. : You gave me a lot to think about. I agree that sarcasm like taking a : lot of hands to pull someone’s head out of the dark (their @ss) is : wrong. I am glad I didn’t say it. Thanks for your wisdom. Peace.
