Pre--planning designsPosted by Lauren on September 25, 2001 at 19:20:38: I remember there being some concern about whether CCJ's favoritepencil was being discontinued. I couldn't get to an art store in time for my last gig, but I did stop by the supermarket to get stuff for signs and saw Crayola brand watercolor pencils. I've tried them and now I am completely sold. Some of the Celtic stuff I know by heart and can just whip out, but the more complex stuff, including anything with interlacing or where geometry is a factor (ask me how many pentacles I did at Pagan Pride day...) I have started to plan out with quick pencil strokes and it's made a huge difference in both the time I take to do a design and as a result the eventual cost. I also highly recommend finding and bringing along an Eisenhower dollar. It's just the right size for so very many circle-based designs.
