I hold the secrets of the Universe! (okay, I figured out a couple things, bear with me,)Posted by Lauren on November 2, 2001 at 12:51:06: How to get a solid stain over an entire area, such as a fingertip orsome of the arabic-style floral stuff- Mix the henna looser than usual, a bit looser than yogurt, but not loose enough to run. The last test batch I mixed strained funny and I got a very wet application. If it's dry enough to control but wet enough so you can't effectively fix mistakes with a toothpick, it's the right consistency. You must also use sugar in it, a bit more than usual. This will take longer than usual to dry and will dry to a thin coating, but in the morning you have a completely even stain with no darker or unstained areas. How to get those squiggly-diamond shaped Indian leaves that until a week ago I would have sworn only CCJ can do- Use a carrot bag or other very flexible cone applicator. This WILL NOT work with a j-bottle, I've tried and tried. Start with the narrow tip and make a tiny stem, then turn the bag 90 degrees so the henna comes out wide and give it a good blob, then at the end of the blob, turn the bag again as you release pressure so the end comes out thin again. How to get people to come to your henna open house- I haven't figured that one out yet. Not a soul even called about yesterday. I did get one email. I certainly hope Sondarya's turned out better. I had signs up in every Indian restaurant in town, every ethnic food store, and the local traditional clothing shop. Several people took tickets with my phone number, but I got nothing. I am vaguely hoping that I just picked a bad day and that the folks who took the tickets will be calling me as they need me, but I have no way of knowing. Rats. At least I didn't cook for it as I had planned. Lauren
