people wearing henna from 1000 CE to 1600 CE. Shiraz is one of the
absolute fountains of henna in that period!

Start going through books of miniature paintings from Persia through
that period. Go through books about Middle Eastern women through that
period. Go through ANY picture book of the pictorial arts of the
Islamic world through that period.

My secret for finding the stuff is to simply pick a country where
henna can easily grow, and start flipping through books with pix ...
and watch hands.

Wouldn't just handing you the bibliography negate the research value
of your project?
