There are a couple of variables that affect the color. How old
was the paste? If the paste was more than 2-3 days old it has
probably lost its ability to stain.

Where on the body were the designs you did? Designs on the
hands and feet come out dark but elsewhere on the body the
stains do not come out as dark and need heat to darken. If it is
cold where you are that could contribute to a paler stain.

Did you get a stain when you used this powder before? I thought
I remembered you posting something when you used this
powder before.
