Help!!! posted by Tammi on November 12, 2001 at 11:57:50: Hi Tammi,Wow, everything everyone has already said it so right on. Without knowing exactly what your procedure and ingredients were for your paste...how long you had the paste prior to application...did you provide a "sitting" time for the paste and everything else said, it is hard to know where in the process you need help. My two cents is to always avoid surpises with results, mix a small amount henna powder with just lemon juice...then mix a small amount as you wouldordinarily mix your powder and do a spot test on palm or fingers and then other body parts in order to know what to expect from your powder. If nothing you do results in a decent stain (varying ingredients and time paste was left on test spot) I would suspect the powder. But if you believe your powder was fresh, I would tweak the process. But, sounds like your experience has also taught a really valuable lesson...never henna anyone else with your paste until you are sure of the results...yes, that could be quite embarrassing. But it also could quite risky "testing" your pastes on other people. And unless you know your powder and paste intimately because you have used it over and over again on yourself. You are essentially testing it on your friends, family etc. when you apply it to them without testing it a lot on yourself first. But also, test spotting on yourself prior to mixing a lot of paste also prevents you from wasting you powder until you have your process exact. A trick to help with the loss of the wonderful design thing is to do a quick sketch of it when your have finished applying it...just for your records and to prompt your memory if it does not come out right. Good luck and let us know if you are retesting...what happened as a result. Maureen
