When the comet passes, it leaves debris in orbit, and we then pass through that orbiting debris. When the comet's close to the sun, it's supposed to leave more debris, and so there's an orbiting clump that we might pass through...maybe this year. Best time for any meteor shower is after midnight, ideally about 3am, because then you're on the side of Earth that faces the direction we're heading. (Sorry, I also used to do this for a living...) I'm now thinking of doing Leo with streaks radiating in all directions as my next mehndi pattern. Natasha, believe it or not, I'm still looking for a good line drawing of black hole + accretion disk to do in henna. I don't know if you were serious (or is it Sirius), but I am. Actually, the galactic center, with the dust lanes left blank, looked like it could be good in henna, too.
