What's this turpentine smelling stuff in kit? Where in Chicago & other ?s

I came across a small kit at a Sally Beauty Supply Store (of all places!). I bought it and the kit contained a small jar of dry henna, a tiny vial marked eucalyptus oil and another small vial the packaging says contains setting oil, 2 stencils and a couple of other small things.

The only thing is that there is a VERY strong smell of turpentine. Is this stuff safe to use?

Where can I find a good henna shop in Chicago?

I'd also like to know - I am going to be experimenting for the first time on my feet (a great spot since its cold here in Chicago and if I mess up nobody will know) will my stained skin stain my socks?
