I'll go along with that. I think what's happening is that the
camphor oxidizes the henna down to the granular layer, and oxidation
makes the stain brown rather than orange. Air won't get that far
down, but the camphor will. Ammonia does the same thing, but pushes
the henna stain clear to black. (If you do the ammonia trick on palms
or soles, there are NO "Dreamsicle Blues" in the late stages ... it's
black to the last cell) Camphor has less of a YUCK factor, and you can
use it beyond yout palms and soles.
