Camphor will pass into your bloodstream through your skin. I bet that's where your headache came from. I also got nausea and a headache from camphor. Big exposure to camphor can be very dangerous. Camphor will darken the henna, (oxidize it) somewhat, but it's just not as effective or safe as a good overnight wrap, and plenty of heat. That, and get good fresh henna! Warming tricks that have worked well for me lately .... (got some gonzo colors with these) 1) fall asleep by the warmest furnace outlet in the house, with your wrapped henna right up by the heat and when you unwrap, but haven't scraped the henna off yet.... 1) hold your hennaed hand over the toaster to really "cook it" 2) hold your hand over the tea kettle's steam (CAREFUL!!!) to sort of steam set the color Heat really gives a burst of dye release.... you can see it when you iron henna into textiles.
