Thank you for being so much kinder and more logical on the topic than "don't care to give" !!! I still side with Catherine, however. Henna has been around for AGES, well before the Prophet's birth or the beginning of Islam, and I'm not Muslim but I doubt that Q'ran says that henna should ONLY be practiced by them. (That'd be sort of like Jews declaring a monopoly on the use of candlesticks because menoraot and Shabbat candles are ritually significant - most of us realize how very silly it would be to do so!) I don't think anyone here does henna simply because they think it's cool or stylish, and CERTAINLY no one does it to annoy the Muslim community. And, as stated, this isn't a solely Islamic practice that everyone just wants to rip off. It is a body art form, and it has appeared in many many cultures at all times in history. On men AND women. (National Geographic had a faboo article on Tuareg marriage ceremonies, if anyone wants to dispute this point!) I do apologize to those for whom it's offensive to see a white and/or Christian or Jewish and/or male person wearing it, but please don't get all on our cases because we admire and respect the cultures for which it is a tradition.
