I found out about a wonderful thing over the weekend that I thought could be of interest to independant Henna Artists. There is a place here in Texas, in Arlington actually called Studio Concepts. Instead of one big salon with several hairdressers, skin care specialists etc sharing space and having one boss and set hours, this place was built with numerous(!) spaces for indiviual hairdressers etc and each one leases out her own space, is their own boss, has their own hours! It occurred to me that this could be great for an artist who needs a shop but doesnt want a big storefront of their own to maintain. I dont know if this has been done in any other areas but it might be worth looking into! The lady who fixed my hair Saturday was very intrigued by my henna and it seems that maybe there could be some demand for artists in a place/environment like this. I am still in my learning phase, trying to get a good technique/method, but I am interested in maybe trying to do this at least on a part time basis, for fun and hopefully a little profit! All my friends/guinea pigs say I am really good and that I should go for it! I will be creating a photo album of my work on the web soon, I would like to know what you all think! Especially the wonderful mentors like Catherine Cartwright Jones!
