I'd really loveto see some photos of your results. The last henna I did was a small pattern for my ankles where the center section was designed to be filled in with a lighter shade. I did the main application and left the paste on over night. After scraping it off the next morning I applied more paste to the center section. I wiped it off after half an hour and was surprised to find it had stained almost as dark as what had been left on overnight, so I didn't have as much constrast as I had planned. After a week, the area that only had henna on for half an hour hasn't faded any more than the rest of the design. It's still slightly lighter in color but not much. (Oddly enough, my left ankle turned out slightly darker than my right, and I did the right ankle first.) <shrug> You have inspired me to start thinking of more ways to use varying shades. Next time I'll try 3 or 4 different applications left on for varying lengths of time and see how it turns out. Regards, Marina
