Does White Flower Oil contain camphor? As I recall, it does... and seems camphor is the active ingredient there.... Camphor is an extremely strong oxidant that has the ability to penetrate skin cells. (This has an up side and a down side.) It will considerably darken henna well down into the skin by oxidizing the dye within the cells. It will hasten the dye release from powder. (this creates as many problems as it solves....) It seems to hasten the whole process.. (dye release, color sequence, staining exfoliation).. so not only does your color come up fast, it goes away fast. So, camphor and camphor products make henna darker, but there are other ways to get your henna darker that might be better. Adding heat to your wrapped henna via a heating pad, hot weather, warming yourself at a fire, any of those "get it hot" things do the darkening job better camphor (or white flower oil) and do it more safely. I think the best results anyone got was in using camphor spirit as a prep, to de-grease and oxidize the skin without creating problems in the paste.
