I could draw them freehand and scan them, but Roy's got the scanner and I hate to bother him. There are very few things I do well in this life, and one if them is that I can immediately draw, precisely, what is in front of me. It's a little like perfect pitch. I've always had it. It's been pretty damn useful. My professors at UCLA loathed it, because abstract expressionism was soup de jour when I was there. So, I use an ancient program called Deluxe Paint. It's dos, for pity's sake. I use it because I have neither the computer power to run a nicer program, nor do I seem to have the brain power to learn to use a better program. No money to purchase a fancier package figures into it too. I tried Corel and it was a pain in the ass for designing. I've used Deluxe Paint for about 10 years, and it's like a friendly old pair of jeans, that never looks elegant, but always looks ok. All the lines are done in by mouse, though there is a radial and cyclic symmetry function and a cut and paste. I use the same program to do the graphics on "henna history". It works. I'm reluctant, therefore, to fix it. I generate them in PCX, then use LView Pro to change them to gifs. I do have a hand template saved .... I have several of those templates, and I keep thing sorted out by which group gets which hand. Having a basic template for pattern sheets makes the portfolios look tidy. I also use LView Pro to make my photos look nice .... all those pix ya'll find clogging up your email are just my ancient pawnshop Minolta, shooting with grocery store quality film, at my left hand (while the right hand holds the camera) and then when I drop it off at the grocery store for processing, I get it back on disc from Konica. Costs $4. I tweak the jpgs up with LView Pro. This morning, though, I didn't take henna pix, I went and pic'd the 4 foot long icesicles hanging off our roof, dazzling tiny rainbows in the winter sunshine!
