I'm not going to lie to you: I am a very devout Christian, and not to get off on a tangent or anything, but I sense some animosity that some zealous Christians feel towards the art of Mehndi. I've been told (Very ardently) by some that henna painting oneself is blasphemous, that it states in the Bible that it is a sin to put markings on one's body. Designs which I MYSELF created were recognized beyond a shadow of a doubt as being those of Satan. Personally, that's is a bunch of Bologna. No one gets after people with permanent tattoos. I think that its some culture panic over the fact that it comes from a similar area of the earth where the Christian faith originated, and it isn't a Christian-Dominant practice. Yeah, I do believe that the body is a temple, and I KNOW that Henna is a way of celebrating the body. So, for the record, I am not marring it in any way, rather I'M SIMPLY DECORATING IT!!!!! And besides. Doesn't the Bible also say that mortal people aren't fit to judge?
