Question about Black Henna and PPD

Hello,
I am writing because I got a black henna done in March, 2000. Two weeks after I got it done, as the design faded away, it got red and puffy. I went to the dermatologist and he said that he did not think it was PPD because I did not have a chemical burn. He gave me medication for it and it has almost completely faded away. My question is, if there was not PPD in it, what else could I have been allergic to? I only am allergic to a certain type of detergent that's it. I know that indigo is sometimes used.
